Before you submit your application, please review the Applications and Reserves section of the info / faq page, as there are additional rules regarding malleable protagonists, CRAU characters, fandom OCs, canon caps, player caps, and other important things to note.

Applications will be processed in the order they are received and after the application cycle closes. We will only accept as many players as we have player slots, however, we will review all applications submitted during the cycle. Application cycles are not first come first serve, and instead will be judged on clarity of the app and samples.

Application revisions will have three days to submit adjustments. If not submitted in time, they will have to wait until the next application cycle to resubmit.

Application rejections will have to wait until the next application cycle to resubmit unless otherwise specified in the original rejection.

There is a limit of 2 characters initially maximum that can be played. (You can redeem additional character slots by way of the rewards page.) As with reservations, you may apply for 2 characters at a time.

We only accept applications for 1 malleable protagonist in a cast. Malleable protagonists may not have preexisting relationships with other characters from their canon aside from base storyline. (Exceptions will potentially be made for CRAUs and handled on a case-by-case basis.)

Fandom OC characters are accepted, but may not have preexisting relationships with other characters from their canon. (Exceptions will potentially be made for CRAUs and handled on a case-by-case basis.)

CRAU characters are accepted, however, must not be so removed from their original canon state that they are unrecognisable. CRAU characters who carry a multitude of prior games may only carry over memories, relationships, and experiences from their most recent game.

Fiction versus reality here doesn't so much make a difference. Please choose one crime, bearing in mind that there may be occasions in which the crime chosen could affect how a character interacts with certain events or situations.

Background: You may provide a link to a wiki, for canon characters. If your wiki has limited information, or your character may not have much canon behind them, you are expected to write supplemental details without leaning too heavily into headcanon. For OCs, you don't need to provide an overly verbose background, just enough to give an accurate portrayal of the world they come from and definitive experiences that are important to their character. For CRAUS, please specify additional information about what they are carrying over from their prior game. This can also be limited to definitive experiences and relationships.

Personality: Although this game heavily relies on the analysis and reflection of a character, we don't expect a dissertation. Please provide information on your character's motivations, how their relationships and experiences have affected or shaped them, and other related information. You may use character dialogue to further showcase this, but it's not expected. If you find it easier to use bullet point formats, feel free to do that. Please do not exceed 800 words.

Abilities: If your character has any special abilities (magic, weapon skills, and so on), please list them here. Remember that world-breaking abilities will be diluted.

Crime: Several counts of Cybercrime & Hacking, Political Extremism, Domestic Terrorism & Corporate Espionage.

His background pre-games is not fully explored although some things are alluded to such as having a unstable upbringing and possibly traumatic childhood. FBI reports suggest he struggled with interpersonal relationships and expressing emotions "properly".

I go with the thought that he was a late bloomer, struggled in school, and never actually went to college or university given how anti-establishment he is. Instead, Wrench is mostly self-taught through other means of learning, mentoring, and probably auditing classes for free. There was one info sheet floating around that actually claimed him as being Canadian so I like to say he's a Canadian expat living in America but that's not too important since he hasn't lived there in years and years.

CRAU INFORMATION
Wrench is from Deer Country where it was said he was reborn and his real form is, wait for it, a squid. When he dies he... turns into a squid, fun right? Outside of this, though, not a lot happened that drastically changed him that isn't tied to abilities which are listed appropriately below. He made friends, he found out that gods existed and magic was real, and that's kind of it. Oh, and he aged up one year (which is why he is 42 and not 41 as per canon age)

Personality:

Filled to the brim with personality. Wrench is all over the map. Friendly, charismatic, vibrant, violent, cagey, opinionated. A quirky, nerdy weirdo and proud anarchist. Very community driven. Flirtatious when the mood hits. Wrench is highly intelligent but not always wise with it. Deeply political and socially aware. Gives a whole lot of damn about a whole lot of things sometimes seemingly kind of non-noteworthy. He's incredibly passionate but hides a lot of paranoid, anxious, self loathing thoughts and other less fun and complicated emotions. Loyal to boot, Wrench is not someone who gives others up. Period. He also has an extreme affection for technology, robots, and ai.

So let's dig a little deeper. Once being DEDSEC's "fixer", Wrench appreciates a get shit done attitude. He still remains one of the more aggressive people of the group who favors open combat to behind the scenes even if he can do both incredibly well. As an Anarchist, it may surprise no one to find out that he harbors a large distrust of both authority and the wealthy. This said, should they prove themselves ready to fight for the cause he won't refuse to work with them. Even if he'll say his piece. Opinionated? Yes, absolutely. And quick to get political. Still, he's not impossible to work with.

In fact, Wrench is an excellent team player and while he can work alone he tends to function best in a team even if its a team of two. He thoroughly believes in no gods and no masters; everyone can lead and everyone can follow. He can be chatty, sometimes flirty, and a bit lewd (what with the alluding to Sitara's "toys"). While Wrench seems goofy and chaotic, and he is to an extent, but it's been noted by both Aiden and Jackson Pearce that a lot of his antics are to cover up how methodical and dangerous he actually is.

Wrench has become almost artfully violent with age. He's wildly aggressive and insatiably vengeful, frequently needing someone to he trusts and likes to hold him back from going too far when his emotions have run high. We see in canon that he does still sometimes struggle with this (dealing with Kelley Gang, killing Skye Larson, and deactivating Bagsley) but he'll do what is necessary. At the end of the day, Wrench is someone who believes his purpose is more important than anything else, and that the guilt or sleepless nights is what keeps him human. Taking into consideration his CRAU blood corruption, when shit really hits the fan Wrench can go from occasional destructive force to downright something worth fearing. Wrench is very much an Anti-Hero. Catch him cackling joyfully as he shoots the enemy. He truly believes what he is doing is both justified and necessary. He does have a serious side and he even has a chill side! Cause yanno, sometimes you just have to fucking kick back. Relax, man.

In contrast to his friendliness, Wrench can be secretive, untrusting, and paranoid. He can be cagey with actual details about himself and will tell a lot about himself without actually telling anything or filling in the gaps. Wrench's mask hides more than his face. It gives him the strength to be everything he wants to be, but beneath it is someone who struggles deeply with anxiety, depression, and self-loathing. Removing or damaging his mask can actually debilitate him depending on how well he's doing mentally. Even as he's grown he still needs to collect himself for a few minutes after taking it off before looking at people. Wrench has also been noted to be something of a heavy drinker with on and off substance use.

Abilities:

Over the years, Wrench has acquired several useful and some lethal skills.

ENGINEERING & PROGRAMMING
Wrench is a mechanical and electrical engineer by trade and he specializes in biomechanics and robotics. He's also a keen programmer having knowledge in BCI tech which is what his mask uses (as it can be quite literally considered a mechanical prosthetic). He's handy in mechanical repairs as much as he is in designing and building machinery.

HACKING & TECHNOLOGY
A talented hacker and extremely proficient with new tech, particularly nanotech. When it comes to weaknesses in this field, he is actually not as good with older tech and has called on Retr0 (Marcus) to help him out with things that would be considered more outdated more than once. That said, he has a penchant for hacking websites, social media, and other internet based things which is where he started out.

WEAPONRY
Wrench has a well educated love for weapons, explosives, and pyrotechnics. Over the years, He's adapted to sometimes using lethal force compared to his past. However he does still use non-lethal tools such as stun guns and stun/flash bombs along with other items commonly used in protests and riots. While he can and has made more sophisticated weaponry, Wrench still has a love for more riot gear such as explosives made from household items, tin cans, spray paints, and so forth.

A special note about his weaponry is that the vast majority of them are LTL (Less than Lethal) though not all. His LTL weapons can still pack a punch, damage, or kill others depending on the level of their health, which one he uses, and how much he uses it. Instead of bullets, his handcrafted weapons tend to use electrical pulses or laser bullets and beams that interfere with machinery and tech as well as hold high-powered taser effects on people. He has been shown holding a standard pistol but he does opt for higher tech options.

STEALTH & FIGHTING
He is stealthy, quick and agile, excellent at parkour and endurant enough to outrun many a foe. He fights dirty and uses a lot of knees, elbows, and headbutt. Also he typically has Lady Smash (his sledgehammer) on hand and aforementioned stun bombs along with other diversion causing weapons and tools. He has a strong preference for melee weapons and packs a hell of a punch with them having no problem with getting up close and personal.

CRAU DIFFERENCES: BLOOD BONUSES
When he was reborn into Deer Country he was gifted with some generic abilities that include higher stamina, elevated strength, and less need to sleep. While having increased strength does home in handy, Wrench is still not a talented hand-to-hand combatant. Previous to this change, he was not very strong at all whereas now he is probably average or a smidgeon above average (such as having the strength of someone who is a amateur boxer).

CRAU DIFFERENCES: COLDBLOOD
Wrench is what they call a "Coldblood". His blood immediately freezes after leaving his body. Convenient! This bloodtype grants him power over elements that "burn" which includes ice, fire, and electricity and is also tied to his emotions. This said, Wrench's skills using these abilities is very amateur and still in bloom. He is most in tune with electricity, but still not very good at wielding or using any of them yet.

This blood-based ability does come with downsides. The more that he uses it, the more it can corrupt him. Likewise, the more his emotions are out of sorts the more his blood corrupts him. This corruption has both physical and mental affects and, if it gets bad enough, can lead to a full transformation. For more information, read this!
