Character Name: Baj Keisuke Character Canon: Tokyo Revengers Canon Point: Chapter 52, at the start of the battle of Bloody Halloween, but before its conclusion for him. [Spoilers Within App!] Age: 15
Crime: Aiding & Abetting. Being responsible in part for aiding and abetting Kazutora's murder of Shinichiro, and aiding an abetting the breakout fight between the Tokyo Manji Gang and the Valhalla Gang.
Background:One ✧ Two [For Nightfell, if CRAU is accepted, Baji was only there one month before the game closed. Pivotal moments were few beyond the friends he'd begun to make there. The only major difference between canon Baji and CRAU Baji are two points: 1. That he finds out he died after the events of Bloody Halloween, an only semi-shock to him, making him worry mostly for the people he'd left behind. 2. That he finds out his gang's leader and one of his best friends, Manjiro Sano, becomes crippled with despair in the decade afterwards, turning to drugs and murder. In an attempt to help that older Mikey, Baji agreed to be his "soul mate": a deal that essentially meant they were in each other's mindscapes for almost the full month, along with another friend, Takemichi Hanagaki. Takemichi's positivity and drive paired with Baji's stalwartness to help bolster Mikey; but Mikey's depressive thoughts flowed into Baji in turn, difficult to ignore and staggeringly violent and lonely. He will be supremely glad to be rid of them.]
Personality: Loyalty is everything to Baji. That means being able to put his life, reputation, and foundations on the line to protect those he's loyal to, even in the face of solitude, hatred, and even death. Loyalty is love, for Baji, and he doesn't shy away from admitting it. The most precious things in his life are the people he's dedicated himself to; when he makes a promise, it's ironclad, almost to a fault.
Baji is a natural leader, but will often take a back seat to prop up his friends. He has an extremely high EQ (contrasting his rather low IQ), noticing when people he adores (or loathes) are in danger, nervous, or in a good mood. He often takes selfless actions to try to help or bolster them, but hates being noticed for it. He'll try to center others before himself, and he'll be quiet-- even abrasive-- about his motivations. With Baji, it's about reading between the lines. He has a fresh mouth, a hard punch, but a heart of gold. Like a Disney princess wrapped up in all the trappings of a punk yakuza.
When Baji bonds with you, he will excuse almost all flaws. The more inherently flawed a person is, the more likely he is to enjoy their company, because they seem more real to him. In turn, he has great affection for those who are also loyal to him. He's incredibly sentimental.
Baji is also able to take a great deal of punishment, both mentally and physically. He's a powerhouse and rarely complains, going so far as to take slings and arrows from his enemies and even be branded a traitor by his friends without complaint in the pursuit of helping them.
Outwardly, Baji seems like a punk. He's a violent, scoffing kid who resorts to punching before pontificating. He can be quiet, grumpy, and even whiny sometimes-- even if while complaining with his mouth he's moving to help with his hands. He's intimidating to strangers, and relies on that presence to ward away danger. Otherwise, to those who know him, he is overtly responsible and even respectful.
...He is also a complete idiot. Baji struggles with anything academic, especially language and literature. This doesn't hold him back from trying, though; he adores animals, especially cats, and his ultimate goal is to one day become a veterinarian. A member of a legitimate Tokyo biker gang; its first division Captain, even; much to their chagrin, he dresses well for school and makes an effort with studying to overcome his academic shortcomings. (On looks alone, he wouldn't seem the type.)
Baji can also be brutal with his enemies, unforgiving and chafing. Getting on his bad side means earning an attack dog that's unlikely to back off.
Motorcycles are a huge part of his life. Baji defines himself by being part of a Tokyo motorcycle gang; being a go-to advisor and protector. That is the Baji that most people know.
The Baji that fewer people know is actually friendly with average students in his class and likes to make a clean-cut impression. He accepts help with his homework and splits his lunch. His hobbies outside of his motorcycle gang might be more surprising still: he likes writing letters to friends (despite his spelling being deplorable to the point of humiliation), cooking menial foods (he thinks he makes packaged yakisoba best, because of the order he puts on the sauces and the extra egg he fries for on top), watching detective series and staning actresses from them (they're cool, okay?!), and playing with strays.
Like any teenaged boy, he likes spending time with his friends, doing nothing or talking about spicy topics, like girly mags and how annoying parents are. He is fond of martial arts as well, having grown up working out in the same dojo as the "Invincible Mikey", and sparring with him often since very early childhood. Despite looking like a bruiser, his fighting style is extremely honed and he's very proud of it; he can take on impossible odds and land one-shots due to his training regimen with the best of 'em in his city.
His indulgences are convince store food and helping stray animals.
His vices are erotic magazines, beating people up (the ones who deserve it; bullies especially, even though this ironically makes him one), and his bad habit of being destructive when he's bored, going so far as to set cars on fire just because he's feeling antsy.
Baji is also strict about his daily schedule and will only kick it to the curb if he's asked to for one of his best friends-- then, it's a no-brainer. For an easily frustrated guy, he can be modest and patient when the situation calls for it. He fights hard and loves deep.
Abilities:Catch Dese Hands-!
First and foremost, Baji is just a human being. A teenager, at that. So he has no particular powers special and unique to him.
That said... Baji is also fairly a beast when it comes to fighting. He grew up practicing alongside the "Invincible Mikey" in his family's dojo, a boy the same age as him known throughout Tokyo as undefeated in street combat. Baji himself is fast, compact, and thinks on his feet in a fight. He focuses on one-hit takedowns, thanks to his excessive training and sparring in the dojo. Within his own canon, he was able to take on fifty rival gang members entirely on his own. Baji runs on pure adrenaline and pain doesn't phase him. He takes on those men with a fatal stab wound, and only takes a knee on #50. (Bad luck, huh?)
With all that in mind, he'd still find himself at a disadvantage against those with magic/special powers and anyone holding a weapon. While he's fairly tank-like in that he can take a severe beating and still stand up and fight, a knife or a gun still would have a one-up on him. Baji will only fight with weapons himself if he has a true intent to kill, which only happens when his loved ones are severely threatened.
So he's fairly handy in a fight, especially street fighting, and with martial arts, and is an absolute champ at taking a beating-- but he'd be in no way super human or superior to those who are very strong, very magical, or very clever.
It's worth noting that, being part of a gang and often being with his close friends or vice-captain, Baji's fighting style also works extremely well back to back with a partner, or else in a free-for-all brawl setting with many allies and opponents. Works great alone, but your grumpy neighborhood Baji also works surprisingly well in teams!
Biker Bro
Baji is a skilled motorcyclist, owner of a Suzuki GSX250e. He's been riding bikes since before he was a teen, and is both handy with long rides, fast rides, and riding with a buddy. Safety first though; if that buddy falls asleep, he's skilled at taking roads slow, following rules, and pulling over to carry their lazy self ...them.
The Cat Whisperer
Baji's weirdest skill is that cats are drawn to him, especially strays. Why? Who knows. But this is extremely cute and he's okay with it.
The upper limit to this skill is that he then ruins the cuteness by giving them, possibly, the worst names ever. Like Peke-J.
(He isn't aware the names are bad. But we are.)
