Character Name: Argenti Character Canon: Honkai Star Rail Canon Point: Following the conclusion of "Night of Universal Hallucinations" Age: There's no canon age but people ball park it from 23-36. I'm personally a late 20s to 30s Argenti truther.
Crime: Vagrancy
Background:Wiki link for the run-of-the-mill character stories. Click here for the events of his companion mission in point form. ๐น Before the story begins Argenti has a fateful encounter with Veliteโan IPC worker who he finds in trouble in a huge cave. After making Velite swear to follow Idrila he rescues him and diverts the course of his own space ship to take him home. ๐น This doesn't go as planned as he rear-ends the Astral Express by accident. Both vessels have actually been swallowed by a giant space bug (known as part of "The Swarm"). Argenti boards the express to temporarily join the crew in figuring out what happened. ๐น After introducing himself to the MC and March 7th they engage in honorable combat as one does. This is proper etiquette for the Knights of Beauty allegedly. He says please if I win you gotta accept my God, alright? This gets interrupted halfway by Welt however because the situation outside of the vessel is developing. ๐น Argenti is here to help after all. It was always his main reason for being here. He was just enjoying the present moment. In his own words he's there to "discover an inharmonious pitch" which he is then going to destroy. ๐น True Strings, which are some comparatively smaller creatures belonging to The Swarm find their way onto the ship and start to cause hallucinations for multiple members. Argenti is included in this as the astral express crew finds him chatting away with one of them that he sees as a wubbabboo because he thinks those must be "delightful ball(s) of pure charm." To this hallucination he announces that if he cannot solve whatever is happening on the express then he will happily die for the glory of the knights. Naturally, the express crew sweeps in to interrupt this. ๐น They all discover that they're inside of and being slowly digested by a giant sting due to rumbling stomach noises. While everyone gets solemn and hunkers down to create a last ditch effort plan Argenti pulls the MC aside to inform them of his plan. ๐น As a Knight of Beauty he has a duty to fight this battle. His strategy is to exit the express and take on the giant sting alone. As he fights it the express should make their escape. Having convinced the MC to either accept or support his suicidal mission they then pick up on where their honorable battle left off before Welt interrupted it. ๐น The mission doesn't progress until you defeat Argenti. Which means by canon events he loses that duel, bids the express a heartful farewell, and then goes to fight the giant sting alone. ๐น After the plan succeeds the express talks about how even though he was pretty delulu Argenti was a pretty good guy. They wonder if he would've been able to survive. ๐น At the very end he texts them all in a group chat with a "are you all safe and sound? I am sincerely worried." So he did indeed find a way to survive his strategy against the odds. He swears that the light of The Beauty protected him but, like, Idrila is dead or missing so who knows? Mystery. He certainly doesn't remember what happened after a certain point. Regardless he also meets up again with Velite to make sure he gets home so he really is the real deal when it comes to honor.
Personality:
Devoted- There are actually too many examples that I could show here. One of the best ones is the fact that Argenti considers all the close calls he has with death worthwhile because it gets him closer to even getting a glimpse of Idrila, the Aeon of Beauty.
"In the pursuit of defending beauty I have bled into unconsciousness... and in the ensuing stupor I have witnessed countless times their traces spreading from beneath my feet โ reaching into the unknown before me."
That devotion is so strong that he forgoes things like settling down in a home or finding a place of belonging although it's very clear in his dialogue with the main character that he admires these things and wishes to protect them for others. He sees safeguarding all beauty in the universe as an obligation that he must never abandon no matter how much suffering it might inflict on himself.
"Until I see that light once more...I will protect all beauty in the universe. For Idrila."
Often times Argenti expresses that he must spread the glory of The Beauty in their absence, or at least until he can find them again. Quite literally taking the ideals of a faction that's loyal to that aeon onto himself and how he lives his life. This duty extends to his fourth character story where he takes it on himself to put down his old friend, who was also once a knight who spoke encouraging words to him. He must do so because that old friend has lost sight of honor, and has become an unthinking beast that has succumbed to evil temptations.
Noble- It's all a part of the package of being a Knight of Beauty. To this effect he is forthright and candid, he will show mercy when it's the honorable thing to do. Knights of Beauty travel the universe as solitary representatives of The Beauty so Argenti takes the duty of upholding and demonstrating these tenets very seriously. At the conclusion of the character mission "Night of Universal Hallucinations" he insists on taking on the giant sting alone so everyone else on the Astral Express can make their escape.
In an in-character Q&A Argenti states that since he is expected to travel alone across the cosmos it would be inherently unfair and unjust of him to have a lover; he would feel great pain if he knew there was someone out there waiting for his returnโso to maintain that honor he does not partake in personal romance.
Sincere & Humble- At first it may be difficult to see the guy act the way he does and believe that it's genuinely all him, but truly he's just like this. That's what it means to develop the philosophy that you can see the beauty in most things--especially in times of adversity. The slice of humbleness is big enough that it verges on self-deprecation sometimes. Particularly if he's putting someone else above himself. Again we return to that in-character Q&A where he displays this quality to uplift the image of The Beauty and The Knights of Beauty.
Another example is showcased in Part 1 of his character story.
"I'm too clumsy to master this instrument..." He murmured in self-deprecation. Yet, after a profound moment of contemplation, a resolute courage ignited within him. He resolved to try once more, to weave a melody.
Argenti uses those moments to fuel his devotion to his aeon (deity) and the path that THEY once walked. He's the kind of guy that if you were to smack him down he'd get back up even more motivated than before.
When you have Argenti in your character roster he also texts you sometimes. He specifically uses some of these interactions to sincerely praise and uplift the main character because "people love to hear compliments."
Abilities:
Manifesto of Purest Virtue - After using the Technique, enemies in a set area are inflicted with Daze for 10 second(s). What this looks like is him lifting his spear into the air and a blinding white light flares out to blind everyone in close proximity.
Apotheosis - Essentially every time he's hit he gets an Apotheosis stack that additionally increases CRIT DMG by 4%.
So Cometh Beauty's Knight - There's nothing too special about this at a glance. It's just an attack that lands on one target but it does aoe damage to multiple targets because it springs up into a bunch of roses and vines.
Spear & Shield -
These are respectfully 2-3 summons that float alongside boss Argenti (usually at or after his second phase). One applies a barrier buff, another increases damage, and the last gives damage boost stacks. Notable when the first entity is killed it applies the same effect to the enemy team. Once the second one is defeated it does friendly fire damage to Argenti. For knight reasons? Perhaps he's a masochist? Probably all of the above applies.
Ultimate - Merit Bestowed in "My" Garden: He has two versions of the same "big damage" attack. Predictably the half charged one does less damage. The fully charged one has several visual and audio cues including but not limited to: glowing golden armor and iridescently shining weapon, the ring of a church bell, and a certified explosion of damaging energy that follows up the first slash.
The technical in game explanation is this: Consumes 180 Energy and deals Physical DMG equal to 168%โ302.4% of Argenti's ATK to all enemies, and further deals DMG for 6 extra time(s), with each time dealing Physical DMG equal to 57%โ102.6% of Argenti's ATK to a random enemy.
Inventory: - Ornate suit of amour - Spear that's so beautiful it should be impractical and yet - Dangerously parasocial relationship with his Aeon
idk this isn't a question or anything just character trivia there's no other place for. Since you're my captive audience rn you have to read it. At one point Argenti asks the MC what he should have with his bread for dinner. What kind of bread should he have? And you can suggest that he have bread with his bread and because he likes and sustains himself on bread so much he goes "Great. Please accept my gratitude."
