RULES:
Starting from a character’s first month in game, they must submit AC. So if a character was accepted during the June app cycle, they must submit AC for the July app cycle.
Expiation does not have a formal strike system, but there are half-pass AC rewards and full-pass AC rewards on the REWARDS PAGE. These rewards have very little restriction (unless the mod team finds this system is being abused for squatting) other than the rule that you cannot use a pass for AC the month after coming off a hiatus. Also, players cannot use proofs that they have previously used in activity checks for rewards.
We do not accept proxies to post AC for players.
Failure to post AC will result in being swept from the game. The deadline for each month is 11:59 PM EST of the last day of the month going into the first day of the next month. We will not accept any activity after this deadline. A mod post goes up on the last week of each month as a “danger list” for players to submit their AC – that is our warning to get it in. There will be no further contact from the mod team to remind you of your AC. However, if there is an error in your AC the mod team will notify you and ask for either a fix of a link or another proof. We will not remove people from the game that we’re pending these sorts of conversations with. The mod team continuously processes AC as it comes in during the month, so if you haven’t heard from us in a few days, we have found your proofs acceptable.
The mod team will also be keeping an eye on activity and concerns over these things but also: unreasonable dropping of threads, or consistently only becoming active for the month on the last week or so of the month to pass AC. All players of Expiation must work together to complete AC each month.
ACCEPTABLE AC:
AC must be a total of 15 comments, from any number of threads. For a thread to be eligible for AC, it must contain at least 3 comments from you dated within the current month.
Backdated threads can be used for AC, so long as the tags counted are within the AC period. For example: a thread started in December may be used for January’s AC, so long as the tags linked are from January. Once a thread has been used for AC, it cannot be used for a later month's AC, nor is it eligible for bonus rewards. AC may be a combination of backdated and threads started in the current month. Only one proof must be from a thread started in the current month to pass AC.
All threads submitted for AC must be from different characters. For example, you may submit threads with Bill, Jane, Steve, and Rebecca, but you may not submit two threads with Rebecca for the same month's AC.
We will not accept smut threads for AC. However, players may use them for rewards.
You may link a full top-level as an activity proof, but individual threads within that top-level will not be eligible for bonus activity rewards. You may, as always, link individual threads from within your top-level instead if you wish.
** If there are extenuating or emergency circumstances that may result in players not being able to meet AC, or have questions about the rules, please contact the mods either via DM or via the MOD CONTACT page. Sooner is better in these cases, but if the mod team feels as if leniency on AC is being taken advantage of, we may ask for extra AC on the next month or deny requests from repeat players. Expiation is a capped game and relatively plot-heavy, and it’s very important that we see the playerbase is active and players are tagging out as they can.
