Player Plots / Event Suggestions

We encourage any and all suggestions for player plots or if you have any ideas for an event! This is a page to open a dialogue for such things.

The process is super simple! Just comment to the page with your idea, and we'll approve or otherwise assist in plots or plans you might have.

Happy plotting!

And this is all Bonedrewd’s fault! (And mine, because I was the one who conceived this idea, but this isn’t about me.)

BACKGROUND:
One big revelation about Ryoji ([personal profile] luneminary) is that he is Death, a Shadow that was torn into thirteen fragments. Ryoji emerges after the protagonists have defeated the prior twelve pieces – they have returned to Death and therefore rejuvenated him to his complete state. In truth, Ryoji’s appearance heralds the end of the world.

Thing is, in the canon point I got him from, he is not yet aware of his true nature – as far as he is concerned, Ryoji is just a regular guy. However, this doesn’t mean that others are as unaware as he is: certain characters can sense that something is off about the teenager.

Enter Bonedrewd ([personal profile] cartridgerefill), an amicable man of science, who has been clued in that there is something more to Ryoji than it seems. So he does what any regular scientist would do: he experiments on Ryoji in an attempt to discover his secrets! It backfires horribly, and now there’s a berserk Death running amok while bringing the Dark Hour with him.

PREMISE: The Dark Hour is a phenomenon tied to Death’s existence, first appearing due to experiments that led to Death’s awakening. It is an extra hour that appears after midnight that can only be perceived by a select few. For this Player Plot, however, things are slightly different – instead of lasting one hour, the city shall be subject to this phenomenon until the source of the Dark Hour is addressed: by defeating Thanatos and quelling his mental state.

I’m projecting this plot to last for about one to two days, albeit due to how the Dark Hour works no time would pass by in the calendar at all. Everyone who would choose to opt-out of the event would be trapped in a coffin for the duration of the Dark Hour, unaware of the events that shall come to pass. The idea is to subject the Chosen into an emergency crisis with no prior warning – some might succumb to panic, others might take advantage of the chaos, and there could be unlikely groups teaming up in order to resolve the situation.

Tentatively there are two layers of participation for this event:

MITIGATION: The Dark Hour isn’t just time coming to a halt, or a spooky change of aesthetics – it comes with several side-effects that can be an annoyance at best and life-threatening at worst. Chosen can contribute by helping out others most affected by this situation or by creating systems that would help address the crisis better. Some hazards that could be addressed are the following:

  • Electronics do not work during the Dark Hour – this includes battery operated equipment and even tablets. The network would be down or could only be used in a limited capacity depending on mod decision.

    However, it is possible to construct a work around: while they never talk about the specifics in canon, equipment designed to work in the Dark Hour exists. I would like to propose that it would be possible for the Chosen to construct inventions that could still work during the crisis. For example, the STEM club’s Dark Web should still function, and they can use this to facilitate communication.

  • Those who are subjected to the Dark Hour may develop Apathy Syndrome. While this only affects regular humans in Persona 3, for this player plot it would be possible for anyone in the event to be afflicted with it. As the name suggests, those with Apathy Syndrome suffer from a level of apathy severe enough that it can affect their daily living. Their worries and anxieties are exacerbated to the extent that they might lose the will to live.

    This is where character CR can come into play. There is no true cure to Apathy Syndrome outside of the dissolution of the Dark Hour, but others can provide mental and emotional support until the crisis ends.

  • STRIKE FORCE: This is the meat and potatoes of the event log – the reason why the Dark Hour resurfaced is that Bonedrewd’s experiment essentially tore Ryoji into separate fragments once more. As such, twelve “boss enemy” Shadows have resurfaced in different parts of the city. They must be defeated in order for them to return to Ryoji.

    This part of the event consists of several raid bosses that must be tackled simultaneously by different teams. Similar to the Organ Hunt or the STEM player plot, players would be grouped into teams where they would have to tackle separate shadows.

    Twelve shadows is a lot though, so they would be grouping themselves into pairs, leading up to a total of six separate routes to partake. They will be modded by myself, Jin (Minato / [personal profile] memori3s) and Jade (Kotone / [personal profile] orphne).

    Once all twelve shadows are defeated, one final team can finally confront Death/Ryoji and finally bring the Dark Hour to an end.

    Let me know if this looks good! I haven't thought out of any specifics just yet so adjustments can be made where necessary. Tentatively I think this plot would happen at around October at the earliest, but I'm not picky about the timing!

You know why I'm here... or if you don't, check the calendar, HOW IS NOVEMBER ALMOST OVER─

Same as last year, I'd like Mitama to host an IC Secret Santa event! The idea is the same as last year, so let me copy-paste the details for the record:

- At the start of the month (let's say December 1st), Mitama would post ICly to introduce the idea, and an OOC post would go up along with it with all the details, where players could sign up their characters;

- If people want to participate but their characters wouldn't sign up ICly, I'd like to leave an open door for that by saying Mitama signed them up for the lulz and then gently blackmailed/threatened/convinced them to participate; I would also hold off on getting Mitama herself involved and only add her to the list if I end up with an uneven number of participants, in order to ensure everyone gets a pair!

- A few days later (I'm thinking December 7th~10th?) OOC sign-ups would close and I would RNG the gift-givers and recipients! Mitama would drop a note on people's inboxes to ICly inform the characters about the details;

- ICly, the characters would be supposed to give gifts to their assigned recipients on December 25th, but obviously players could forward- or backdate that as needed;

- ???

- PROFIT and spreading the Christmas joy everywhere~

Let me know is that's okay with you guys!

Hello mods!

I know this is super short notice, but Scott and Kotone were thinking of hosting a Remembrance Event at Richard's Inn, something originally brought up by Claude. I imagine it will be relatively low key with like food and stuff with maybe a book for people to write names and/memories in there of the people who aren't here anymore.

Oh and possibly exchanging of mementos or little gifts between people. Something physical or tangible for if/when someone disappears, there will be a memory of them.

I was just wondering if something like that could be incorporated in this upcoming tdm?

Awesome!

Did you need me to write up a couple of prompts for the TDM? Or did you guys have that handled based on the ideas given?
