RULES Be Kind⇁ This should be self explanatory. Be respectful of others in the game. Mind boundaries and respect applicable permission posts. Communicate with other players as needed regarding your own comforts or triggers. Do not guilt players if they opt out of playing with you or your characters. No harassment or bullying of any kind will be tolerated, including concerning behaviour that may be manipulative or passive aggressive. If you have interpersonal issues, please try to resolve them between players first and use moderator interference as a last resort. If needed, please submit evidence of this behaviour to the moderator feedback and contact page. Repercussions for poor or ill behaviour towards others will be handled on a case-by-case basis, however, conduct that is extreme will result in an immediate ban. No Metagaming⇁ This includes power-modding and god-modding. Do not assume information known out of character is equivalent to in character knowledge unless your character would feasibly and justifiably know / discover it. Characters will be granted the abilities they have from their origin worlds within reason. Any power that is considered ‘world breaking,’ will be diluted. Do not abuse the access to character powers. Do not control characters played by other players without their express permission. For instance, a thread you may not have finished and hand-waved a portion of will require you to communicate with necessary parties to conclude information / actions exchanged in that thread. IC and OOC Boundaries⇁ IC actions will have IC consequences, positive, negative, and every other shade in between. Keep IC and OOC separate. We are all human and, at times, can be invested in what we are exploring, especially if we have spent a decent amount of our IRL time building that. In the face of that, please respect the lines and comfort of others between IC and OOC. You should not immediately assume that a character’s actions or feelings are representative of their player’s. If you are concerned with another player’s conduct or you observe bleeding of IC and OOC matters, please reach out to a mod. Player Plots⇁ Expiation is a game with bimonthly events, which means that there is downtime between events that allow for personal plots to be started, progressed, and run. If you are planning or would like to plan a plot that will affect the game community as a whole, please submit that to the moderator contact. We’re happy to help and want to encourage player and character exploration. Adult & Mature Content⇁ This game is not specifically centred around adult, sexual, or other explicit content, though may have events from time to time that cater to those. Players are free to explore this content outside of events, whether via inboxes or on the communities. Please tag, warn, and lock content that falls into this category. As with other communication, be respectful of other players and their boundaries regarding this sort of content. Coercion of players (of any kind) will not be tolerated. Activity & Hiatus⇁ For the respect of other players and their time, we expect all members of the community to be active. Monthly submitted activity will be required. Please see the activity check page for additional details. If you need to take a hiatus, submit your request to the hiatus and drop page. Note that the maximum hiatus you can take at one time is one month. If you have extenuating circumstances that require you to extend past that, please reach out to the moderator team. Final Say⇁ All decisions made by the moderator team, from application rejections to interference between players or necessary bans, are final.
