CANON UPDATES

Characters who are going to be updated in canon will be absent for a minimum of one week (or longer, depending on circumstance). To other characters, it may seem that they have disappeared during this absence. Temporarily they will be extracted from Expiation, but upon return, they will not be assigned a new piece of parchment and will otherwise wake up in their lodgings. They will have no memory of extraction. It will be as if they simply had a long, extensive nap.

For characters with established canons already who are getting new content (ex: a new chapter or a new season), we would ask for you to wait one month before canon updating as a courtesy for spoilers.

CANON UPDATE

[personal profile] invinciblemikey 2024-05-14 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
technically not in game for a few days but im slamming this down either way

Player Name: jade
Character(s): manjiro sano
Canon: tokyo revengers
New Canon Point: good ending - off screen, age 18
Characterisation Changes: Are there any new and important experiences that change their personality or motivations? This doesn't need to be lengthy.
- two years pass between current canon point and the next bullet point, in which he starts another gang and becomes the worst.
- manjiro lets the voices in his head win, kills takemichi, but does the trev time traveling thing in which he just possesses his younger body probs at age 9-10
- so technically, mikey is like 27 on the inside. at age 18. (was 18 too when came back to age 9/10, lived till 18 again.)
- retains all memories from previous timelines (i'm assuming, but at least the last one for sure)
- well, basically, his brother and everyone after him who died, doesn't, because mikey and takemichi work the timeline out to not allow that to happen
- the tokyo manji reaches #1 gang in all of japan, mikey disbands it while they're on top
- starts motor-racing some time after, they cut to 12 years in the future, so there's a hole there, which is where we are at.
- still thinks he gotta be strong, but now at least he can cry in front of people and be a little more open with accepting help and vulnerability
- still has all the trauma of the past timeline, the one we are at currently in game, but think of it as as if he has had a long time to let it heal and also new experiences to add to it. not perfect, but better.
Additional Skills: as per tokyo revengers rules, if you kill the time leaper, you become the time leaper. mikey kills takemichi, so technically, he should be the timet leaper, although the canon doesn't dwell much in that or explains anything at all. either way, if we want to accept the possibility, here are the rules:
- one may only time travel to a specific point in the past (10 years ago, 5 years ago, etc) from the exact date it is the day of the leap.
- this ability to travel in time triggers based on a strong, mutual desire to change specific events in the past to alter the future from the time leaper and another individual, taking them precisely to before they need to be in order to avoid the event.
- leaping makes the other self (present or past) just move on as one would, which means you have no idea what just happened, especially if you change the past with the effects showing in the present.

most likely this power will never be used, aside from maybe a player plot, but probably not, it's confusing and the author never explained that much about it.

foresight:
- this is shown in takemichi. sometimes, it triggers and he can see a little glimpse of the future, few seconds with no explanation, so when takemichi looks at his shirt and sees red, he assumes he gets hurt soon, but it was just sauce.
- ... and then he uses it to predict mikey's kicks, so that was dope. will use responsibly if so allowed

Anything Else: i'm sorry about tokyo revengers

Player Name: Vitt
Character(s): Mitsuru Kirijo
Canon: Persona 3
New Canon Point: Post end game/Graduation Day/March 5th
Characterisation Changes: Mitsuru will have experienced SEES' final battle to stop Nyx and The Fall aka the complete and utter obliteration of humanity. If anything will shape/change someone's outlook that will. Consequently, Mitsuru will have learned to open up more and to more readily put her faith and trust in those dear to her. She's resolved to take her place as the new head of the Kirijo Group and to try and live each day to the fullest, seizing any opportunities presented to her. Having witnessed what happened to the Protagonist but not yet having gone through the events of The Answer, she's also been left with a lot of questions over what exactly happened to their leader, though she's also determined that the sacrifices her made won't be in vain going forward. Whilst she's as ready to accept her responsibilities as ever, the Protagonist's influence upon her will mean that Mitsuru is also more willing to make choices that are in line with her own interests and desires, and not just about sacrificing her own wants for the good of the Kirijo Group and her family name eg. breaking it off with her fiance instead of going ahead with her arranged marriage (I have chosen that her relationship with the Protag will have remained platonic/non-romantic though).
Additional Skills: Nothing absolutely mind boggling - her Persona, Artemisia will be stronger having leveled up significantly since November, which was Mitsuru's previous canon point.

Player Name: Jade
Character(s): Peter Parker
Canon: Marvel Cinematic Univese
New Canon Point: End of No Way Home
Characterisation Changes: Several differences between Peter's initial canon point (Infinity War) from where he is now. For starters, the Stark-based legacy he had built throughout the previous movies, which peaked in Far From Home, is no more. Peter now stands as an independent hero, without the Stark name, or any affiliations to him, which had been both an honor and a weight for Peter throughout the saga. He had an idea of what responsibility meant in the early movies, telling Stark that "when you can do the things that I can, but you don't, and then the bad things happen, they happen because of you", and knowing that the Iron Man mantle was too heavy a responsibility to carry in Far From Home, it's by his new canon point that he truly understands the weight of being Spider-man. Due to his careless request, he and Doctor Strange caused a multiverse disaster which culminated on the loss of Aunt May, his morality standpoint, and led the world to forget about Peter Parker as a whole.

He now understands fully that with great powers, comes great responsibility, knowing very well what happens when they make a mistake - loss, death, destruction, oblivion, and thus, he will think proper before acting, for a change.

He also understands the darkness that inhabits them, the rage that his fellow Spidermen (Tobey's and Andrew's Spiderman versions) deal with over their own losses. Tobey's said getting what he wanted (the man who he thought had killed his uncle dead) didn't make him better, and Andrew's version says that he got rageful after his arc, and thus, he stopped pulling his punches. For MCU's Peter, he nearly kills the Green Goblin, battling his anger and the responsibility he has with the villains he is trying to save.

TLDR, he's more thoughtful, more mature, less careless, and more understanding of what real rage can do to a person. he's still kind, altruistic, and one to put other people's well-being over his own.

Additional Skills: responsibility.

Anything Else: Since I'm hiatusing, I'd like to ask if it's possible to use the reset/hiatus as a circumstance to extend his absence till the end of my hiatus, starting from when all characters wake up after the event.

Player Name: Liv
Character(s): Root
Canon: Person of Interest
New Canon Point: Post-canon
Characterisation Changes: She's much more of a good guy in heart as well as action, and she's become very close to her canonmates. Overall more established as a team member with trusting relationships. Though she hasn't changed TOO much... lol. No reduction in violent behavior, just aimed differently!
Additional Skills: Still a normal human!
Anything Else: Just that she's dead now. 🤷‍♀️

canon update

[personal profile] arachnerina 2024-11-03 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Player Name: Kat
Character(s): Gwen Stacy [personal profile] arachnerina
Canon: Spiderverse
New Canon Point: ending of Across the Spider-Verse
Characterisation Changes: Overall, Gwen is very much the same as she was the year and four months prior. She's still the same witty, sarcastic, and awkward spider that she always was, but she does have some growth as a person. Her relationship with her dad is one of the biggest milestones for her. At the start of the movie, he finds out about her identity as Spider-Woman, so she runs away with Miguel and Jess and joins the Spider Society. Rather than face her dad and deal with his response to learning the truth, she runs away. But thanks to Miguel trapping her back in her dimension, she has to face him again. This time, she's able to get her emotions off her chest and actually make amends with him. Before she leaves to go save Miles, she promises to return to him.

Joining the Spider Society was originally just a way to escape her dad, but when she met Miguel, one of her first thoughts was using his watch to see Miles again. Gwen continues on her trend of acting selfishly when she convinced Jess to let her go to Miles dimension to look for Spot, and defied orders and went to see Miles too. This action starts the domino effect that leads to Spot getting away, Miles following her, and eventually ending up at Spider Society and learning the truth.

She does spend the next year actually making friends. Jess becomes a mentor to her, she stays often with Hobie, and is even good friends with Pav. She knows most of the spiders by name (which...is Peter in most cases, but still), showing that she's finally moving forward and not isolating herself as she had before. She interacts with the Peters with ease, suggesting she's not so haunted by the loss of her own Peter anymore. She's honestly more bothered by the fact that Gwen Stacy dies in pretty much every other dimension she's in, especially when she falls for Spider-Man.

Working with the Spider-Society definitely teaches her a lot, but when Miles follows her, she has to wrestle with the fact that Miles is challenging everything she's accepted as the truth. They tell Miles that he was never meant to be Spider-Man and that he has to accept the fact that his father will die so he doesn't break the canon. Gwen's spent the last year hearing this, even somewhat accepting this means the death of her own father, but Miles is quick to reject it. Her gut tells her that Miles isn't wrong, even when every other Spider is following Miguel's commands. While she still participates in the chase after Miles, she doesn't exactly try to restrain him and tries to talk to him, instead. When Miles eventually escapes, Miguel blames her and she finally stands up to him, saying "they're supposed to be the good guys." This is the changing moment for her, because the Spider-Society isn't being the good guys and she wants to be better. As soon as she gets the web-watch Hobie left for her, her first reaction was to go find and help Miles, but it's after arriving at his dimension that she realizes he was sent to the wrong dimension. Further breaking the rules to do what she thinks is right, she gathers her friend and the movie ends with her leading a team to go save Miles. Because Miles was right, they're supposed to be better than that, and she's taking the steps to make things right. First, by saving Miles, then by helping him save his dad.

Additional Skills: Not necessarily anything new, but will be more proficient in her skills
Anything Else: she's going to be pissed c:

CANON UPDATE

[personal profile] opheliac 2024-12-06 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Player Name: bekka
Character(s): jinx
Canon: arcane
New Canon Point: beginning of episode 9
Characterization Changes:
Are there any new and important experiences that change their personality or motivations? This doesn't need to be lengthy.

SPOILERS OF ARCANE (cw: attempt suicide)ACT 01: — jinx comes across an orphan girl named isha (who she saved from silco's goons), and she follows her "home". in season 1, jinx and sevika used to buttheads with each other, with jinx hinting some slight jealousy over the fact sevika was silco's right hand. but after his death, the two reminisce and decided to bury the hatchet. she express caring about sevika or at least shows she is serious about letting go of their feud by building her a new arm.

— also in this act, jinx shows she cares about isha (and still cares about vi's) safety when isha throws herself in the mix of their fight; exchanging frightening glances between the two girls when isha has her sister at gunpoint.

ACT 02: — jinx's bond with isha deepens, and she becomes happier, grounded, and a little more clearheaded (and seems to be experiencing less with voices and hallucinations). in the beginning, she shows no interest in becoming a symbol of zaun until the topsiders kindapped/arrested isha and half of her people. her voices return and hallucinations, but it seems she is able to calm herself (somewhat) through those episodes, vs how she would completely go on a rampage during them. after the prison break, jinx realizes/witnesses how much her people are counting on her to be their hope/symbol and how much she means to them. finally feeling that recognition she always wanted and been chasing after, it's then she becomes motivated to be their hero and turns over a new leaf. thusly, jinx is no longer a villainous little terrorist she was in the first season.

— learning warwick = vander, jinx ventured off to find vi and told her about his revival. this shows, despite how they left off during their fight, she still cares enough for vi to be involved in vander/warwrick's aid. because as she states: "he's her father too".

ACT 03: — after isha's death, it was said that jinx saved vi and turned herself in. being confronted by caitlyn, jinx broadly apologizes the death of caitlyn's mom - saying "for what it's worth, i didn't know your mother was there". this demonstrates her owning up to her mistake in some sort of way. jinx does, however, falls into a suicidal state and tries to "break the cycle" by blowing herself up, but ekko stops her from doing so. he tells her, "you know i've learned from someone very special (her AU self). that no matter what happened in the past, its never too late to build something new. someone worth building for"

by telling her this, jinx gets a changed of heart about offing herself, and to at least join in the fight between zaun/piltover vs noxus/viktor.

and it's from after ekko expresses this statement to her is where i'm taking jinx's canon point from.

Additional Skills:
Have they learned anything new? List new abilities here. Reminder that world-breaking abilities and skills will be toned down moderately.

when it comes to her abilities, they are pretty much the same. however, there were some that i came up with as a headcanon between season 1 and 2, that i now have to retcon. i don't know if i should list those, but i'm doing it just in case because, well, i did have threads about these headcanon powers in expi.

● ❌ she does not need shimmer to keep her powers going, or experience withdrawals like the addicts.

● ❌ her blood color is regular red blood.

● ❌ she does not need to eat a lot of food in order to keep her shimmer energy flowing.

Anything Else:

— unlike the rest of the canon mates, jinx will come back/wake up in expiation with no big drastic appearance change besides missing her middle left finger.

if i need to clarify anything about her motives and what not, let me know!

SPOILERS ABOUND IN THE DETAILS TEXT naturally

[personal profile] grappler 2024-12-09 02:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Player Name: elise
Character(s): vi
Canon: arcane
New Canon Point: post s2
Characterisation Changes:
Are there any new and important experiences that change their personality or motivations? This doesn't need to be lengthy.

Vi struggles Act 1 and especially Act 2 with a loss of purpose. The only thing that had motivated her through her jail time was the idea of getting back to her sister Powder-- who is now Jinx. She lets herself lose her own ideals and joined the Enforcers, believing it was the best thing to do to take her sister off the streets.

Until that too collapsed when Caitlyn left her.

Act 2 Vi has completely lost her purpose. She becomes a pitfighter and a drunk until Jinx reappears and tells her that Vander’s alive, though not quite the same as he was. But it didn’t matter. Through all of that she started to believe in their little family again…

And then that too was taken away from her.

Act 3 pitches her into real turmoil. She’s dealing with her complicated feelings on Caitlyn and Jinx, and there’s an impending war looming over all their heads with Noxus. But that’s not usually on the top of her agenda – the people she loves are always top priority. When she learns that Jinx is in jail, she swipes the keys and lets her out, only to be thrown into the cage while her little sister leaves. Caitlyn finds her there a while later, still in said cage, distraught. She truly believes she’s lost everything at that point – (“I choose wrong every time, and now I’ve lost everything.”) but when Caitlyn essentially mentions she let Vi have the keys, she realizes that maybe she hasn’t lost everyone. and then we have prison lesbian sex–

Vi loses Jinx and Vander (again) during the war. Interviews with the creators mention that she was screaming for hours alone until Ekko finds her. Some time passes between that and the final shot with her and Caitlyn (~two months we headcanon), and we see her healing. Not just physically, but mentally and emotionally as well. The parts of her personality in those few moments seem as if she’s softened around the edges, and she’s probably most likely still trying to find herself. This is the first time she’s ever had to do anything without her sister in mind, but she does have Caitlyn now. There’s someone in her corner, and when Caitlyn asks her if she’s still in the fight for peace, Vi says yes.

She’ll still be grieving when she comes back to Expi, but she’ll start learning what it means to be herself and to take care of herself without the identity of being a protector for a single person. While Jinx will still be in Expi, she’ll still be working through those emotions of simultaneously wanting to connect with her sister and also figuring out what she wants for her life. She’ll still be the hot tempered, sarcastic brawler, but she’ll most likely actually be more inclined to work through her trauma now! Yay!

Additional Skills: thank god she has no new abilities
Anything Else: uh she’s gonna come back 100000% gayer sorry guys

canon update | *SPOILERS*

[personal profile] bulleting 2024-12-12 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Player Name: Kat
Character(s): Caitlyn Kiramman
Canon: Arcane
New Canon Point: end of s2
Characterisation Changes:
spoilers below!
act 1: In Act 1, Caitlyn falls into despair due to her mothers death. Without her mother, she feels lost, and isn't sure what to do next. Vi is her grounding pad, but when the Undercity attacks the memorial, it's a changing point for her. She was already angry, but the attack only fed the fire. She falls even further into her grief, not only poisoning Zaun again with gasses her mother built filtration systems to fix, but she becomes so hyperfocused on Jinx that she forgets to care about innocents. She fires on Jinx with zero care to the fact that others are around her, almost hitting Isha, and hitting Vi (partially because Vi got in the way). When Vi argues that she's becoming just like Jinx, she sees this and the fact that Vi stopped her as a personal attack, and believes Vi has turned against her and is siding with her sister-- so much so, that she actually hits Vi with the butt of her gun before she walks away. With Vi left behind and not there to ground her, she gets swept up in the Piltover politics, and gets thrown into a position of power she didn't ask for.

act 2: Caitlyn spends the next six months as dictator commander over Piltover, with Ambessa as her main advisor. It's over this six months that her eyes begin to open. She realizes how cruel and violent Ambessa and Noxian soldiers are, and how against their actions she is. She speaks out against it, and keeps an eye on her. She follows Ambessa to meet with Singed, and even follows Rictus, where she runs into Vi again. As if being called Cupcake was a trigger word and she was a sleeper agent, Caitlyn was able to come back to a sense of herself she hadn't been able to find, with Vi's forgiveness. Because of Vi, she finally turns on Ambessa, and has to prepare Piltover for the war that will come because of it.

Act 3: Caitlyn is once again faced with coming to terms with her own actions. While she didn't arrest Jinx herself, Vi insisted she had changed, and was furious with her. She goes to speak with Jinx herself, admitting that she's hated herself too, and she's tired of the anger she's felt all this time. She gives Jinx a chance, too, by clearing the jail of guards and letting Vi "break in". By doing this, she puts her full trust in Vi and her decisions, and trusts her about Jinx. She gave Vi a second chance, and now she was giving Jinx a second chance.

Saving Piltover and Zaun becomes the new priority, and Caitlyn tries to make things right between the two sides. She ends the martial law, and gives all citizens the chance to fight or leave for safety. She also fights, nearly to death, to stop Ambessa with her plans. Even after being stabbed in the abdomen, she keeps fighting, even after sacrificing her eye, she fights.

But when the fighting is over, Caitlyn finally takes a step back. She brings back the Council to govern Piltover and Zaun, and appoints Sevika to the Kiramman seat, to make sure that Zaun has a voice. She's finally able to make peace and move on from the anger and hate she had felt, and let herself be happy.

Additional Skills: Caitlyn learned a bit of fighting from Ambessa, so she's not just a gun expert, but pretty talented with one on one. Enough so that she was able to hold her own against Ambessa long enough for Mel to stop her.
Anything Else: Caitlyn no longer her her left eye >:

CANON UPDATE

Player Name: Hayley
Character(s): Dante
Canon: Limbus Company
New Canon Point: End of Canto VII
Characterisation Changes:
Dante doesn't change too much over the course of this canto. Mostly, this Canto serves to bring more of Dante's fears and insecurities into the spotlight (their desperation for the Sinners to remain together and be happy, their doubts in their own abilities, things like that), but those sorts of things probably aren't going to be resolved for awhile.

Also thanks to Don Quixote, Dante will now be attempting to smile more despite not having a face.

Additional Skills: Superbia, which is another Durante power. I've chosen to interpret it as lending power/buffing another person for an attack or a clash for a time (like a free limit break). Like many of Dante's powers, it's limited to the Sinners but I'll probably use some reward points to allow them to buff others if I'm allowed.

Anything Else: Thanks to this Canto, Dante now knows what streaming is.

CANON UPDATE

[personal profile] laserguy 2025-02-10 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
Player Name: Sara
Character(s): Scott Summers
Canon: XMCU
New Canon Point: Post-Apocalypse
Characterisation Changes: First off, so much for peaceful timeline, because Oscar Isaac Apocalypse nearly destroyed the world and thus tensions between mutants and humans have risen. After all, one mutant was able to disarm every single country in just a few minutes and that's a cause for concern. Sure, he was defeated by a bunch of mutant teens and their teachers, but that probably doesn't alleviate all those concerns. Because can they be trusted and etc etc.

Either way, the X-Men have officially formed in Scott's timeline now.

Mostly, Scott will just be a little more serious and anxious, because he's also been designated as the future leader of the X-Men. He's stressed about that, since he doesn't want to lose his new friends and family and he's finally found something to really fight for back home, but it's still a lot that a teen has to deal with. He doesn't want to screw things up. Not to mention his brother, Alex, is dead and he really hasn't processed the grief from that yet.

Additional Skills: Scott will have his visor now! So, better control of his optic blasts, like being able to control the power and output of them. Also probably knows some basic hand-to-hand combat because now training as a X-Man under Raven aka Mystique.

Player Name: celen
Character(s): viktor
Canon: arcane
New Canon Point: s2, between acts 1 and 2

Characterisation Changes: Hoo boy! The tl;dr version is that he dies in the explosion at the end of s1, and is then subsequently brought back to life via the Hexcore, which fuses with him, and as such affects his mental state when he eventually wakes up. While he remains very largely the same person he's always been, someone who wants to help people in the Undercity, he now takes action towards those goals; whether it's entirely him or the influence of the Hexcore that makes him able to view his life up to that point from a distance, we don't know, but he can now tell that what he and Jayce were trying to do would never result in helping the Undercity, and seeing Jayce's blueprints for the Hextech weapons makes him leave his old life behind and follow the Hexcore's arcane magic to the depths of Zaun, where he's finally actually able to help people. Through this, he's calmer and unafraid — in general, he appears more self-assured, considering and calm, most likely because of the influence of the Hexcore and the way he can "see" people's suffering.

Additional Skills: Hoo boy 2.0! At this point, the arcane magic that he has is not quite at the literal god levels it'll eventually be, but he can:
- Heal people
- Connect with people aka if he touches them > he will then be able to see their lives / memories, will nerf this with player characters so that it only happens if those players consent to it / if not, then the connection will throw him back a la Vander
- Levitation?? What is he doing there at the end of act 2??
- Oh and the hivemind, of course...

Anything Else: No I think that's it!
