![]() EXPIATION There is no sky. There is, in fact, nothing. Just an empty space of white, blinding and radiant to the eyes. You can walk through it, but you’ll find no walls. No chairs. No windows. What you stand on appears to be stable enough. It does not crack or fade beneath your weight. You leave no footsteps where you go or from where you came. Where could this possibly be? Where is the world that you have come to be most familiar with? Any number of questions may flutter through your mind, perhaps relating to how you got here to begin with, or how you escape from this place. Whatever you may be thinking, wherever your considerations may be carrying you, there is a voice that breaks out. One. And then another. Three, perhaps? You’re overhearing a conversation between them.
There’s not much of an opportunity for you to inquire further. Anything you may ask to the disembodied voices bouncing around you from all directions go ignored. Perhaps they can’t hear you. Moments after, there’s inaudible conversation, perhaps a different language unfamiliar to you, and the floor beneath your feet drops. You fall into white until you eventually black out. When coming to, you’re surrounded by green grasslands and a rolling meadow. There appears to be a series of buildings in the distance—and perhaps civilisation. In your hand, you find a piece of parchment bound by rather nondescript twine. If you tug it loose and read its contents, you find that you are tied to an indeterminate amount of time to face a sentencing for a crime that you’ve been accused of, be it true or false. …Now what? Welcome to Expiation, an adventure game with science fiction, fantasy, and subtle horror elements, that explore the concepts of crime versus innocence, definition of atonement, and reflection of self. Events occur bimonthly and it is up to the new residents of this world to uncover the truth of their circumstances, find a means to survive, and return to their original worlds, if they so choose to. It's important to note that things aren't always what they seem. Be prepared for some potential surprises along the way. rules | info | world | taken | reserve | app activity | rewards | hiatus / drop profile by tricklet layout by tessisamess |
